Who We Are

Have you ever wondered "what's in a name?" Names or labels can be very important. When you shop for groceries, chances are you seek out certain brands on items such as ketchup or peanut butter because those are the names you trust for quality.

In today's non-denominational world, many churches have taken their "brand name" off of their sign. What's in a name? We hope to clear up that question by answering the following questions.

Is Desert Springs affiliated with a denomination?
Actually, no we're not. Even though Desert Springs is listed as a baptist church, we are not affiliated with a denomination. We are an independent church which means that instead of being governed by a distant, denominational authority, Desert Springs is self-governing.

Then why do you call yourself a "Baptist" church?
We have baptist in our name because we want to be transparent in what we believe. Wouldn't you be disappointed if you thought you had purchased shampoo but later realized you had bought conditioner? In much the same way, we want everyone to know where we stand and what we believe up front. We are a baptist church based upon our baptistic beliefs. Baptists have historically believed that one can only go to Heaven by having accepted Jesus
